SkillsUSA Nebraska

Partnership between Nebraska State Home Builders Association and SkillsUSA Nebraska

SkillsUSA Nebraska prepares middle school, high school, and college students for careers in the skilled trades through hands-on competitions, leadership development, and career training programs. The Nebraska State Home Builders Association proudly supports SkillsUSA because these students represent the next generation of professionals who will build and maintain our communities.

  • Provide tools, materials, and equipment used during construction competitions
  • Support student travel and participation in SkillsUSA leadership events
  • Help schools launch SkillsUSA construction and skilled trade programs

  • During the SkillsUSA Nebraska Competition, the TeamWorks Competition features teams of four students competing against other teams to build a 6' x 8' shed. Each shed includes a window, roof, and electrical components.

Because the competition is based on which team can complete the shed first within the allotted time and required steps, the sheds are often left in varying stages of completion by the end of the day. Any unused building materials that teams did not have the opportunity to install are included in the $1,000 donation price.

Donors are responsible for transporting the sheds, which can be picked up from Fonner Park immediately following the competition. Contact Tim Uhrich at Truss Craft in Grand Island for further details.
